Willard Library, Evansville

Willard Library in Evansville

History

The Willard library was built in 1885 which makes it more than 110 years old. The Library is the oldest public library building in the state of Indiana and is housed in a Victorian Gothic building in Evansville, which is near the downtown area of this southwestern Indiana city of 130,000 people. The building still functions to this day as a library.

Hauntings

The building is said to have only one ghost, quite a famous one as well. She is known only as the lady in gray. Many psychics and mediums have visited the building to try and discover her identity but all have been unsuccessful.

She is thought to be from the late 1800's era due to her clothing. Many staff and visitors have seen her, and various sites have even set up a ghost cam to capture her on film, which has actually been achieved several times. Take a look at the picture below and see what you think!
