I just seen something at the monroe house.I can't tell you how amazing it is.I kinda believed in ghost and heard stories of this house,but I'am having a hard time just coming off the fear.Long story short,I live in town but just moved within a couple of blocks of the Monroe house.Like I said earlier I have heard stories about the house.I guess a childs ghost is said to be haunting the place,But I never new the location of the building until my new neighbor told me. I drive right past it after work.Just happened to look up at the windows and there it stood.I thought it was black smoke,like the place was on fire.It slide out of the window.It's day light.I could see through it. I still can't believe it.The house is empty.I stopped and just sat there for a few minutes.I don't know what I was seeing.

Was reading last post,our team was in there for a overnight investigation and got into a fight. NEVER RECOVERED! Also accidentally damage the house but made immediate contact with the owner. We investigated a lot of places and never had problems till then. Lost my best and most expensive camera,was in one of the bedrooms and caught fire. Evp's out the ass, heard some with our ears. This place destroys equipment. Heard Joe lost his drone during Gavin Kellys project for Netflix. Everybody knows that there has been a lot of accidents and the owner said he closing the house to investigators. I had the same idea the last post said, wanted to do a long investigation but think we would have killed one another. Very negative !

I stayed in the house for a investigation. The team and I had a bunch of activity late and it was quick. It seemed to be active in one part of the house then move to another. The biggest scare we had was the intense anger that came over two of us. Never happened before and once we all stepped out of the house things went back to normal. Almost a fight. We were planning to come back and do a nick , katrina thing but decided not to . 3 days in there would cause us to damage ourselves or the house.Also was surprised the hair and bones nick found was real, owner closed the crawl space. I think the bones are very old, like really old. The fire is real too, messed up place. Bad entity or something haunts that place, I believe a team member took something with him from that place.

The house is in really good shape on the inside and eddie (owner) is doing a lot of construction on the inside. The fire is real, I seen the damaged area. I was very surprised that the bones are real, I seen them, There is a bunch of bones. I am not a paranormal ghost guy , never did a ghost hunt or stuff like that. However the short time I was there I heard stuff. Loud stuff! Eddie said it was nothing just sounds old house make. I never heard junk like that in old or new. I don't know if I believe in that stuff but I am now interested a little why I am on this site. Eddie is turning it into a museum on this stuff, I think he said there is a Facebook page on the house but have not seen it yet. Hope this helped

If anyone knows how too contact the home owner id like to try my best to solve or figure out what we can do if it is active as advertised ive investigated irionically the old hartford county jail a while 13hrs which is within eye sight ofthis home wondering if now from what me and my fiance captured there in audio and in video may be going from the two locations there could be a possible link. I think they posted on a Facebook page that they are going to let a few ghosthunters in next yr. I don't think doing that is a good idea. I lived upstairs for maybe a few months in the 90's and think I told my landlord who lived down stairs I hear stuff. I moved out , I worried for her and her son who where great people.

We were in the house in 2014 as a team and did not return for a second visit as a team. We are doing this to help people and at the same time to have a adventure but did not expect to find something dangerous. We had a very bad encounter in the basement and didn't know what to do. This was something we have never seen before . It caused everybody to panic and we decided to call off the investigation early. Half of the group said this was to much for them , the other half wanted answers. I do not think a ghost of a child is in the house. I believe it is something else. I lived upstairs along time ago and can say there is something very real and possibly demonic. I don't care how many ghost hunters have been in there and what they believe. You have to live there! I read some of the stuff investigators have said and some got it pretty close but you cannot go in there for a night and know how bad it is. I lived there and it started very slow and then got worse. I thought in the beginning that it was just regular noises but at the end I left. Every body laughs but I think it followed me for a while. Just live there, you can't understand!

I was reading some of the stuff on radon gas due to a open well in the house. There is no open well. It is closed plus there is a vent system for the basement. I have been in the house 4 times to do small jobs and on the very last job I thought heard something. I will not get in to what I heard but I do think there is something wrong with the house and it's not radon gas.

I was always scared of the strange noises , they where not common but when it happened it sure got your attention fast. My mother would comfort me about the sounds and voices as a child but she mentioned years later about a women she thought she had seen upstairs near my bedroom. She had always wondered if she had seen the apparition of the women who had taken her own life decades ago. I for one never like the old house and was happy when we relocated in the early 50s to muncie. Always been curious about the after life after my youthful experiences, and the house that brought it to my attention. Very good to find this site and pleased to see others chatting about the place. Brings a sense of normal to me who have spent 70 plus years in deep thought over my experiances.

So far what I seem to be getting is that some bodies allegedly need to be removed from the property. If this is a genuine haunting this might not resolve anything if the spirits are trapped by the house itself.

Dismissing the matter as a gas leak is partially accurate in context to the behaviour of sensationalists attracted to paranormal media which should be removed from the property and communication with the owner if their intention is actually to clean the house because the bit about the activity indicating the occupants desire to destroy it is true.

If they've already established a telekinetic command of access and possession of the property, they're using the vortex for their own purposes and staying out of the way and forgetting about it not only your wisest but your only option.

Actually the Gas would build up more at night when people are sleeping less active. And its not just Carbon Monoxide, but a host of any other Natural Gases that can come up from a well into a home. And its effects and not "Bam your dead or under the effects." If you bother to do some research into things like Radon interring into homes how it effects, slowly poisons the people living in them. How they clear the gas from them so people can safely live in them. I know first hand I have a friend that made the mistake of buying an older home without doing an inspection back in the 1970's it too has a well in the basement. Radon was found in the house. The EPA came in put in special fans and vents to vent the gas out through the roof to stop it pooling in the lower levels of the house. Building up coming to the second floor where the children's bedrooms are located. They are unable to sell the house, after all who wants to buy a house with RADON Gas coming up into it. They owe to much money and don't want to destroy their credit so they are stuck living in it for as long as they are alive. Do yourself a favor and educate yourself before making comments about things that it's clear you know little about. Anyone with an Internet connection can look up read about different Natural and Man made Gases invading and causing issues with both Mental and Physical health. I am guessing you watch way too much TV have very little real world experience not to mention believe most of what you see on that TV. With most of the United States getting more and more into Drought situations, aquifer getting shallower and shallower more gas is being passed up wells into the atmosphere instead of contained inside the rock and systems in place to hold them back. Why do you think "Fracking" is now so popular to release Natural Gas? The same gas is coming venting up well heads but not everyone likes to talk about it until they turn on the water and it catches fire burns or tastes funny.
A recent EPA study found 44 Harmful Chemical Gases being vented inside homes all from Water Wells.

Carbon dioxide gas, as in your thought of the chimney affect, is a gas that is lighter than air. Therefore, if there were a carbon dioxide vent provided by the well would have dropped anyone that went into the cellar, and they would suffocate. It would be that fast.
Looking in from the outside numerous neighbors have seen and heard things from outside, which also nullifies any affect the well may have caused because no one was in the house when these observations were made from outside. No gas from the well would affect anyone out of the house. To be affected by the well means people would have to be inside the house and in the basement.

I got really intrigued and still am, by this house after watching a documentary on the place and then some you tube investigation stuff on it.. unfortunately the history surrounding the place seems a bit hidden. But I did find thru digging in the late 1800's to about 1930's. It was owned by a Belgium immigrated family named Berger. I also found that the father was a bar keeper. From what I hear it used to be a bar so this made sense. They had 3 or 4 children. Who stayed in the home as adults and worked at a large glass factory as glass workers in the 30's. I have watched investigations of where mediums have stated two childrens bodies, remains were found in the crawl space to the left a boy and girl. Hence the story posted of the alcoholic father and the mother the same medium stated there were screams from the children and the father yelling and grabbing a belt and beating them as the mother looked on. Again stories stated here that sounds of screaming and yelling would come from the home. That there was sexual abuse as well. Now the fire I am trying to still find fact on as well as the children's bodies being found. Also it is stated under a stairwell in the house a mother and father are to be buried there or a couple.. other then mediums and stories the only ownership I can find on paper was the Belgium immigrants that owned the home. And who they bought it from no clue. Or when no clue as the find was in a directory from 1911-1912. So just thought I post what I have found and thanks for posting your stories very enlightening. I am not claiming that this location is not haunted but I the skeptic in me is telling me to point out a couple of things to people. The baby monitor can be most likely is picking up interference from any radios within a 2-5 mile area. CB's, police, other baby monitors, alarm systems, anything in the 2.5 2.4ghz range could be feeding the reviver. Also wanted to point out that the disused water well inside the house. With the serious drought all over USA the very low levels of the aquifers all over. Are creating dangerous issues where the wells are acting as vents for the aquifers. Pulling in all sorts of gasses that are normally trapped or blocked by the higher water level in the aquifers. Gasses like Radon, Natural gas, Carbon Monoxide, Carbon De-oxide, Methane, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, all sorts of petrochemicals can use the disused water well as a chimney and vent directly into the house. This is why their are now laws on the books to prevent at last in KS new water wells from being drilled built inside homes, business. Due to the chances of poisoning people from the gasses chimney effect from water well. I would love to see a environmental survey of the air quality to see if any Radon or other things are present that can cause hallucinations other effects on the brain. Again not claiming that the house in not having paranormal issues but not ruling the chimney effect out either with invisible gasses like Radon others. To rule it out get a EPA environmental study then lets see what is going on. The County Courthouse should have a record of any home burials they would have to be marked on the properties. Normally they appear on the title insurance forms are notated with write of ways. Show as set asides for private cemeteries have to be drawn in to show the exact location and on file with records. A Check with the County would be a good place to start along with looking at your title paperwork. Before paying for ground penetrating radar but then it might be worth getting in touch with a company that does that work too. Just to know if or where any bodies are at. Trying to get you to feel sorry for it so that it can find a way out, someone to attach too. Fires are often oppressed spirits being held by Demonic spirits trying to burn there way out. To destroy the structure so they have nothing that is keeping them held to that spot. Think of it as a "Jail Break" to escape what or whoever is keeping the held hostage. Small fires are to ruin the owner financially to force them to spend more and more money over and over to keep repairing the property. Trying to get you to feel sorry for it so that it can find a way out, someone to attach too. Fires are often oppressed spirits being held by Demonic spirits trying to burn there way out. To destroy the structure so they have nothing that is keeping them held to that spot. Think of it as a "Jail Break" to escape what or whoever is keeping the held hostage. Small fires are to ruin the owner financially to force them to spend more and more money over and over to keep repairing the property. Until they are driven to bankruptcy financial ruin and end up taking their lives the lives of those close to them. All I want to talk about at this time, have more to say but not in the mood to talk about what happened last night when I started watching the fist video. Had a very unpleasant visitor that was not a human spirit or ever had been one. CP2013

This was only my second time ever going on an investigation with Brenda Mudrack. 1st time was to the Ohio State Reformatory. Never met PBSubnormal couple Beth and Paul Bryant before or seen any of there videos, knew nothing about history of this house.

So we meet Eddy and Pam Norris they tell us about their experience, others paranormal investigation noting that we may be the last to investigate due to previous investigation having gone in to contact with something Evil. Great I'm thinking just great - NOT -

Beth and Paul arrive we set up some cameras in basement... I'm upstairs watching the monitor while Paul is in basement in coal shoot... I see hundreds of Orbs pouring out of this room all around Paul darting back and forth and looks like giant bubbles. Of course by time we get recorder set up to record it dies down.

Paul asks for name Beth hears Roger, Rodney, something with an R... later clearly Roger, Roger, Roger, Roger. I don't think of it being a possibility of being my brother, I'm actually still thinking about the name on the tombstone outside...Levi Thomas Anelle.

We order pizza and I announce to spirits while I'm in the kitchen "Pizzas' Here come and get it" "Roger want some pizza?" Still not thinking about my brother...

Not until all four of us are in basement, I'm fussing with my flashlight to come on... again Paul asks for name and signal if name is Roger once yes, twice no. I notice my light flashes once... I then say my brother name is Roger and he passed a few years ago... spirit box says STOP my light responds to few more questions and I set it down and ask Roger Young is this you? very bright single light flash with sound of button being pushed on the flashlight... I'm dumbfounded I gasp and I say my brother Roger?

It starts to occur to me that the way Beth is saying Ro ger is how he would say his name. And he would have to clear his throat before speaking. Roger died a month before his 60th birthday from complications from Shy Draggers and Parkinson caused from agent orange exposure in Vietnam.

While upstairs we ask Roger several questions and get answers through the spirit box, This goes on for 30 minutes or so... I ask about Ethan and his name is repeated back, Ethan died at birth, my niece found out early in pregnancy that Ethans skull wasn't developing, she opted to continue with pregnancy, Ethan was born perfectly in every way other than skull and brain, he gasped once and passed. we ask is Ethan with you? sounds like Mark, but I believe it was Park... My niece and family live by a park on west park drive with six month old brother to Ethan. I believe Ethan was allowed to come to Earth again...with Sawyer.

The rest of the night is continued evidence that Roger is here with us and is enjoying our company, nothing bad happens, the little girl upstairs doesn't want us there so we leave upstairs go back downstairs.

While in the kitchen at 2am I hear static from radio in the hoop room & hoop is turning...Brenda gets touched.

Later on while watching Paul in basement alone we see a figure of a woman hovering in corner looking down at Paul, we also witness a dark figure growing within the room with Paul.

Definitely a memorable evening! Would like to return again to The Monroe House.

I was in the house with the owner to bid on some work when we both heard someone walking around followed by a door opening . I was there just for a job and could give a shit about ghosts , now that has changed . Till you see or hear something like that you will not understand !!! The owner said I was lucky because crap like that don't happen every day , I don't know about luck , I really didn't like it and made me start thinking about stuff I never cared about !! Like going to church or something! Peace!

I have a close friend who has been in that house as a child . He told me if you spend enough time in that house you will experience very strange things. I really never believed him till now , he was describing the same thing I am reading on this site and seeing on you tube years ago. I am going to get with him and book a private investigation this winter. Final note, seen a film crew there this week, pretty cool!

My grandpa told me about this house whne I was a little kid. He said there was a strange couple lived in this house and the dad was a pharmacist in town and the wife stayed home. They had 2 kids. A boy and a girl. The father could be heard screaming and yelling at his wife and kids, and was always coming home drunk. The little boy was quiet and thought to have some mild mental problems. Story has it that the wife and 2 kids died in a very strange fire that couldn't be explained. They never found the father and he was never seen or heard from again. I don't know if this story is true, my papaw just told me about it when I was little. I guess the house went to his brother and he fixed it up and sold it, that was years ago. I heard it's empty now and the new owners are having problems with strange things happening inside.

We are a paranormal team that did investigate this house back in November of 2012 after being contacted by the owners. Our team consists of 3 team investigators and a psychic. We arrived at the house around 9:00pm and our psychic saw a woman on the porch with long black hair, very thin and frail. The owners gave us a tour of the house and filled us in on some of the history including where most of the strange activity has been seen and heard. Once upstairs, where the smokey figure has been seen, we were unloading our equipment when something in the back bedroom clinked across the floor. We collected EVP's upstairs telling us to GET OUT, DIE and PRAY FOR US. The house is mostly empty as they have been renovating it in the hopes of trying to rent it out, however I believe they have stopped construction because the contractors get spooked and refuse to come back. Once we unloaded our equipment we went room to room taking pictures, running our EMF and did some EVP recordings. The core structure of this house is reportedly from the 1900's and it is here that we found the most activity. I personally have never witnessed so much paranormal activity in one house right off the bat. While there we witnessed lights turning on and off (not just the bulbs, the switches up and down), doors opening and slamming shut, the window in the far back bedroom slammed shut breaking the glass, footsteps, the house making loud banging noises...this house is alive with activity!

Investigating the basement, where the story of the childs death due to the fire occurred, the charred beams where the fire started were still visible. While taking pictures of this, the lights started to flicker and then went off leaving us in pitch blackness. Then suddenly my assistant screamed and ran up the stairs and out of the basement. Once outside she said it felt as though someone had touched her back, she had 3 deep scratches just below her neck. After this, she left and refused to go back inside. The psychic picked up on something in the coal room in the basement and felt 3 different presences here. A woman, and two small children. We got EVP’s of GET OUT, MOMMY, and IM SORRY down in the basement. We also got a recording of an EVP calling my name which made the hair on the back of my neck stand up!
We collected some very odd pictures of what appears to be smoke and a blazing apparition that we couldn't debunk upstairs where the sighting has been witnessed. We have another session scheduled with a bigger paranormal team this spring.
We will keep you updated.

I LIVE IN HARTFORD CITY AND HAVE SINCE I WAS A KID. THIS HOUSE IS WELL KNOWN TO THE LOCAL RESIDENTS AND THE STORY OF THE CHILD WHO DIED IN THE STRANGE FIRE BEING SEEN IN THE UPSTAIRS WINDOW. This house is the real deal. I have seen lights come on and off all hours of the night upstairs, the doors are pad locked shut and nobody lives in this house. I have seen a shadow figure move across the windows several times. Very strange!

The monroe house has been really active lately.A lot of people have reported to the owners of the property that the lights are coming on and turning off.Also there has been several sightings of what appears to be someone moving past the windows.The property owners do not believe in the paranormal and have told me they will try to debuk all the claims.The house is slowly being restored.The yard is being cleared of trees and under growth which has made it alot easier to view from the road.I think this has increased the visability from the road which has increased the sightings.I have seen the lights in the second story come on late at night.Let me explain that there isn't any light timers in the house.The owners informed me that the wiring is new and they think there might be an electrical problem.I don't know but it is creepy.
