Old insane asylum in faribault,mn

I recently went out to this old insane asylum in faribault, mn on Halloween 2011. I went by myself at midnight, I got into the first building and started asking questions and had a digital recorder to capture any evp's that might happen. I was in the building for about 5 minutes asking questions when I heard a loud hiss from the room across the hall from where I was. I went to investigate the hiss, still asking questions. There was nothing there so I went back to the room I was previously in and I noticed a puddle of something on the floor where I had just been standing, there looked to be blood in whatever it was, it was not there when I was previously standing there. I left the building to go to the other building further back when I got an extremely eerie feeling and decided to just get out of there as fast as I could. When I got home and listened to the recording I heard 2 different distinct voices. One sounded very deep, hoarse and very evil. The other one was whispering but I believe it was the more evil of the 2. It actually spoke to me in a very intelligent way. I asked if there was anybody there that wanted to speak to me and the voice said "come outside... baby!! I want to kill you!! Come here!! It told me to come outside atleast 3 times on the 6 minutes that I was in the building. I even said at one point that I had an eerie feeling and the first voice said "good". Very scary!! I won't be going there by myself at night again, it is extremely creepy!! I got a few more evp's in that short time but them were the scariest and best ones I got in 6 minutes. I am definately going to go back but I'm bringing someone with me next time!!

This was not an insane asylum. For over 100 years it was a place that was home to people with intellectual disabilities, and during part of its history for people with epilepsy. As with all institutions over that time, it had long periods when its residents were poorly cared for, overcrowded, and warehoused as people with disabilities were often treated with low esteem in society. When I worked there in the 1980's, however, it only served adults, and care was taken to find homes in their communities that would be able to provide the support each person needed to live well, after an earlier attempt to empty institutions that often sent people out without that. These were lovely, interesting, well-loved people, many having deep faith in God. The cemetery, used rarely in recent years when deceased individuals didn't have families nearby who provided family burials, was a place of prayer and not scary at all. Like Lazurus in Jesus' parable, these are folks who may have received little respect on earth who I suspect live with great honor in heaven. If you are encountering evil there, perhaps you are bringing it with you?

Hello I'm from faribault mn I'm a local here I can tell you one thing that tunnel has a strong paranormal aura im too scared to go there but from what my companions told me it's long and scary there is a lot of activity down there they didnt tell me much but I know it was the sight of a hospital that was closed down and there are a lot of graves near that tunnel two different sides if you seek the location of this tunnel locate teepee Tonka park and river bend its also called teepee Tonka tunnel try not to get lost in there there is also a cave

If you are from Fariabult, MN as am I if you go to the Teepee Tonka woods by the old bridge and the well you can go deeper into the woods you can fine another segment of Hell's Tunnel the used to have rooms in it but they got recently closed off and some building ruins still stand and they have alot of paranormal activity.

I have been to this place a few times. Once by myself, knowing it was the remanence of the old psychiatric hospital of Minnesota, and the surrounding cemeteries, but being naive and not knowing any of the history. I'll tell ya what the place have me chills and feelings I've never felt before. It felt very ominus, very dark. I've been to creepy abandon places before but this one is one to be careful at. There's alot of history in that area especially near the river.

I went to hells tunnel on 7/16/16 and the first time my friend and I walked it nothing happened. So we looked for the asylum for another hour and realized it was part of the prison. Sun has set so we take 1 more walk thru, down and back. The way down nothing happened, but on the way back I comment about the satanic symbol of a fallen cross. I saw it, but I was recording the walk and the symbol I saw wasn't what was on the wall. When I made a remark about the symbol the temperature dropped without wind and we started shaking cold. We left once that happened. I am going back this next weekend to see if I can contact the same ghost.

I went to Hells Tunnel many times last summer. I always went with others leading the way, and never by myself. Might be a little hazy/Jumbled in my head, but I'm pretty sure I have the basic idea. Ok. So you go to Teepee Tonka. You enter, and go all the way down the road straight to the back past the archery range. Its the edge of the woods. There's a path right at the edge corner of the fence. You should be able to see it. You go INTO the woods, and you stay to.. I believe the left. I think that there are actually two paths right when you walk in, but they both lead to each other in like less than a minute. Anyways, I'm pretty sure you just go straight on the path. Its a walk in the woods. You just walk and walk for like ten minutes or so through the woods and you will come to it. Once you start to go up hill slightly to the left, and there's a random fence right out there, you're right about to enter the tunnel. I'm going to have to go out there again in the next couple days to make sure I'm giving the right info, but I'm pretty sure. Anyways, so the tunnel is super creepy, even in the day. especially if you are afraid of the dark! Its a pretty longish tunnel, and there's no light that comes from the sides or from up above. There are also holes in the sides of the walls, so it does no help to cling to the sides if you're going in total darkness at night. You'll get tripped out when your hand goes into a hole and half your body falls through. Hahahaha. Anyways, Go through the tunnel. THEN to get to the baby Graveyard.. Hmm. I know that there are two different ways that you can go once you get out of the tunnel. I THINK you go....RIGHT. BUT IM NOT POSITIVE. whichever way you think you could get to some railroad tracks... Sorry, I'm not even being much help. If there are TWO pathways to the right, I think you should take the left side one. Anyways, its a walk, there might be some other random pathways, but you don't go off the main trail. So you go and you go, and eventually you end up at some railroad tracks. You're going to be like, what the hell. Railroad tracks? Well, you walk on them railroad tracks. you get off the path and take a left and walk on the railroad tracks for about.. hmm.. maybe 3-5 minutes I think. If this is your first time going, I would highly recommend that you go in the DAY, otherwise, you will get lost, especially with my crappy directions!! After walking for several minutes on the tracks, KEEP AN EYE OUT TO YOUR RIGHT THIS ENTIRE TIME, you will come to the graveyard, on your right. Its easy to pass it, because there is no real path coming from the graveyard. Just people made paths through the grass that aren't really identifiable. It isn't like a regular graveyard with regular gravestones. There is only one stand up gravestone about in the middle, and the rest of the gravestones are just flat. We found the place via a facebook comment of a Faribault resident. We parked my friends car in the graveyard, a yellow Monte Carlo, on the end of the dirt road. Soon, on our left, was the large white cross that has no graves showing. Anyway on the walk to the, "asylum" we felt great. The weather was beautiful; 60 degrees and clear, as the sun set that night.
Eventually we made it to the other end of the dirt road, and on our right, was a broken rusty gate, about two feet tall, with a dirt path leading into the woods behind. Me and three other friends ventured inside, and about 150 yards in, we found the first building. It was a tall concrete building, with one main hall, and an entrance on each end of said hall. On each side of the hall, lay three rooms, equal in size, all with alot of graffiti . We all split up, into different rooms for a minute. As I stood alone in the most southeastern room, farthest away from the town of Faribault, I got extremely dizzy. I had to lean on the wall for about five seconds and my vision went black. I left and walked outside the room as one of my friends caught up to me.
"Dude I just got extremely dizzy in there," my friend said. I told him I became dizzy at the same time, which was a little freaky to realize.
Into the second building, which was a concrete building built into the side of a hill. It had a room on each side upon entry, and then a main room with lots of pillars; supporting the ground above. We all took pictures, except my friend who just got dizzy, his phone shut off. Whatever, we thought.
We left the room and he exclaimed in excitement his phone was working again. and turned around to take pictures in that room again, only upon entry it shut off again. As paranormal as that was it was fucking hilarious,like whatever was there was just picking on him.
We explored a bit more, found a big foundation, a foundation of what looked to be the only plumbing in the area, and a bed spring, take what you will from that, no one really knows what this place is.
I kept getting the flight feeling. I wasn't scared as I was just ancy to leave, I really just felt uncomfortable the whole time.
We left, and getting back on the dirt road, me and two others felt extremely dead. I'd never felt this way before, I was a corpse, I had no energy and could only think about rest. I wasn't happy, none of us were... well except for my fourth friend, the driver. He was ecstatic, a new found energy he had recieved from the place. This worries me, none of us friends really talk as much as we used too, just highschool friends I spose, I still worry about if something happened to my friend the driver that night, though. I will never return here, for I feel lucky that i just felt tired, and im 99% sure whatever was there did not follow me, at least.

the asylum is the prison now. I lived in Faribault and went into the tunnel. there are bad spirits there. as soon as I went into it about 2 feet I felt overwhelming despair, fear, and sorrow. it made me want to cry. I left as quickly as I could. the tunnel I used is by the baseball field and archery range. the prison is across the river from the range. the tunnel is next to the archery range and you have to enter the woods and follow the path to get to it

There is a very big reason that a few of us actually know where it exists. But people from Wallcott Township have grown tired of the disrespect that so many of you trespassers make. The garbage, the home appliances, making this a local hot spot to part. When vandalism, drugs and destruction is what is really going on. The people of the area have stopped cooperating for these reasons alone. Truth be told...we don't want any one else knowing just how to get to some gem. Why? So some DA can trash this too? Locals LOVE LOVE LOVE to call in the law when you have no buissiness being here. And I will supposet this until this area starts being treated as the special place it is.

The Walcott Flour Mill burned down to the ground on Nov. 3 1895. The mill was located right off of the Straight River. While hard to get to you can still see some old remains of this building. The land and many buildings sat empty until 1863 when the State of MN opened the "MN Institute for The Education of the Deaf and Dumb" Only to later become the State of MN School for the Feeble Minded and Epileptics. In 1909 the Hospital established a small farming community on 507 acres. Calling it Wallcott Township. Only patients that passed extreme testing and were deemed to be at a higher level were sent to THIS facility. Many patients worked along side the townsfolk. In 1915 The Hospital aquired a second farm. At it's peak there was a total of 60 buildings, and 3335 patients. (1955) Soon the state started changing it's ways of handleing these types of patients and the Hospital & farm were closed. Most of the buildings have been torn down since 1968-1975..to the present. The large cross in the children's cemetery is babies that were born to patients and some of the farm help. The abandoned building is all that is really left. It has been vandalized, and spraypainted. It IS a popular party spot, and dumping ground for unwanted tv's and couches. Not so popular with any of the neighbors. If you are heading there at night be prepaired for a visit from the local law enforcement. You do get the creepy feeling that there is something there during the day. I felt sick. The cemetery is well taken care of. Please be respectful of this place when visiting, clean up after yourselves. I have lived in this area almost my whole life. You just want people to tread lightly.

I went by myself for the sake I like quiet while I record I went to the grave yard took a left on a rock road past a cross which is an unmarked grave yard for children the sign clearly says in memory of asylum you keep heading down the rock road you will see a small area with a Iron gate way step over it go 1/4mile down up a hill you will see a small structure with six rooms stucco on the outside heavy concrete wood doors with spray paint and looks like shot gun blast through the door the place echo's quite a bit I brought various tools of the trade RT-EVP recorder, DVR recorder, Raudive diode. spirit box. I recorded no voices I let it sit in a room for three min attached to the raudive diode Nothing on there but static I used spirit box herd nothing outside of the normal radio stations .I recorded with the RT-EVP I recorded 3 min got an eerie static scratching when I played it back at my parked truck . I heard some kind of strange scratch kind of noise with my own ears not on the recording just some noise around me sounded like it came from above me. No voice I ventured around the trails not to far this time not to familiar with my surrounding did not want to get lost so I went back to my truck and listened to what I recorded Static and scratchy noise sounded a malfunction on the recorder I recorded for 2 min in truck and there was nothing wrong with the recorder had no static sound on the recording I have to get more familiar with the surroundings explore a little more next time down the trail further. to see what else is in the area.you can tell its a popular place for kids to party and drink. lots of beer cans and cig butts.

The tunnels are now gone, part of that property is now owned by the Prison. They demolished them and in order to get to the cemetery portion you need to contact the prison and ask for permission.

My friends and I went today and found the first building up the hill and the bunker. We saw the sign but couldn't get to it because there were plants that pricked us. We searched and searched for the tunnel and could not find it!! We even went to the other entrance by Teepee Tonka Park but did not find anything. Has anyone found the tunnel and if so where did you find it? We wanted to find the main part of the insane asylum with all the buildings? Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I have heard a lot of rumors of this place. Back during WWII there was an old german p.o.w camp located at the north part of owatonna off I-35 and there were some rumors that this was actually that camp.. I have also heard that the old hospital was actually located at the prison and school for the blind and deaf but they had a big outbreak of an illness (I don't remember which one) but they were transferring patients through the underground tunnels to avoid contamination and spreading of the disease, but they also had a building out there on 235th st e and they were holding the ill there as well because they didnt have enough rooms available at the actual hospital. I have also heard a rumor about how there was a hospital located there before the one at the prison and they had built up the one at the prison when they heard of new comers and then the deadly illness came and they were using both..

The place is on 235th st E. To get there go on albers ave then take a turn on 230 e and a right on babcock trail. And first right on 2355th st east. On a rock road. Take a left at Dennison cemetery. You will pass a cross to your left right after which is all the unmarked graves of children. And keep going down that road. Look right it'll be your first right you take. There's a rusted gate looking thing. Just climb over it. Follow the trail its prob 1/4 of a mile down. Then it goes left or right. Go right up the little hill and there is your first place. Then walk through the halls. With 5-6 rooms to the left and right. Walk through that then it goes on another trail. Follow it to your left it brings you to what I thought was the tunnel that people are talking about but its just a bunker room in the hill. I'm still trying to find the three crosses and the crosses among the hunting grounds farther out of those trails that lead to the "tunnel". Hope this helps.

I was there yesterday, never been there before. I had no idea what it was so I thought why not have a couple beers and venture a friend who has been there multiple times and likes to fool around there. We parked right in front of an old gate and I followed after him.. All of a sudden we came o a small part of it with four or six rooms lined up, I refused to go into the rooms and after waking through the second doors I got a weird vibe like something or someone was there and watching. At that point I had finished a beer and walked even further to where we came to a little hole next to a cave , my friend dared to go in the cave after hearing noises. I started to freak out and turned my camera on.. He almost forced me to go into the cave but I said I would punch him if he tried again. We went even further to a platform , weird thing is it had steps so I'm guessing that was the entrance long ago, but even more weird under weeds on top of the platform was a circle of the star of David, I've seen too many scary movies in my life but this was real. After the steps there was a path leading to a sign but there was only spray paint on it. So I finished my other beer and begged to go back, he once again went into the cave and disappeared for several minutes so I yelled so he could hear me saying ill meet you at your car.. Heard more noises and ran the way we came, at the same time saw a figure at the first room and ran even harder, I looked back and next thing you know my friend was right in front of me and I screamed as loud as I could.. We both got scared hearing even more and raced to his car. Never again will I go there. Something is there and its not good, I'm a pussy when it comes to scary things , just never thought i would be that terrified. Its on YouTube. Find me.

I recently went to the one in faribault and all I can say is.. It is most definitely haunted. I went in with 2 other people at around 3am on a rainy dark night. Graffiti was everywhere but there were several eerie or creeping sounds we would hear. Then all of the sudden we heard something like a footsteps on the floor above us. At this point we were all getting a little scared but promised eachother we would all stay there a half an hour at least to explore and dare ourselves. Then one of the weirdest/creepiest/messed up thing happened. We started hearing scratching sounds in a room further down the hall, my friend led the way with their flashlight and I followed right behind. Before I could even look around the corner through the door my friend screamed and started running. There was a naked man all by himself laying face down in the closet/storage door scratching a wall. I do not know if he was homeless, on drugs, or what the hell it was. But all I know is I will never step back into that building again. There are certainly spirits maybe even a few strangers you'll encounter...

you have no idea what your talking about okay if you did reseach all this stuff you will find out that the old insane asylum is the prison and the school for the blind and deaf. maybe go out in the of the country on hunting public hunting grounds maybe youll find shit like i did finding a underground rooms and not the buildings that everyone knows about with the one built into a hill you have to go farther down to the hunting grounds with the white cross in front thats where the underground room is at me and buddies ran across it in the middle of the woods on the trail. But at the place with the building in the ground the first hunting grounds if you came from the east yeah if you look hard enough youll find a door biult into the ground and thats the tunnel. and the is also another way if you look through the park thats in town but we quit looking for it cause we all left for college

You have no clue what your talking about maybe do some resreach you will find out some shit. me and buddies were looking for the insane asylum i found out that the old hospital is now the prison and the school for the deaf and blind. but out on the public hunting grounds we found a underground room not the biulding that is biult into the hill that everyone knows about.. its the next hunting grounds with the white cross in the front me and my buddies ran across it on the path and youll find some other stuff in there also. but the hunting grounds with the biulding biult in the hill look harder and you will find a door in the ground and turns into the tunnel. also if you go to the park thats in town you will be right by the prison and people saying that there is another door behind another white cross but had to stop looking cause we all left for college.
