Jinxx's childhood house of horrors, 702 N 16th Street, Fort Dodge, Iowa 50501

My personal childhood home, originally built in 1912 (now abandoned but still standing) began experiencing poltergeist activity, objects moving by themselves, disembodied footsteps, voices, horrific smells, a strange liquid seeping from the floor boards (which we found to be blood), a mist that shaped into a human figure with eyes, periodically would find dead black birds throughout the house December of 1987. The house is exactly as we left it in early 1988 (we fled in the middle of the night when my mom saw the figure with eyes hovering above her). A few families have tried to live there since, but no one ever stayed long. It has sat empty for years as I understand it. Recently went back and checked on it in September 2011, entered it to face my fears (it's been haunting me for 23 years. I still have nightmares). The stain from the puddle of blood in my mom's former room was still visible. We always suspected the haunting had something to do with the witchcraft of our next door neighbors at the time, whom we never got along well with. Their house has also sat empty for many years...

So it’s rented and quiet now... Someone must have understood what they were dealing with and removed those beasts by the blood of the lamb, Jesus. Same with alien encounters...they are very real because they are demons who are disembodied spirits of fallen angel/human hybrids. Read Genesis 6:4..."The Nephilim were on the earth in those days —and also afterward (the flood)—when the sons of God (fallen angels) went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were heroes of old, men of renown. (Giants, all mythology, built the pyramids, shape-shifters, aliens, ghosts, demons). The book of Enoch says that they are bound on earth because of the disobedience to God, and unredeemable by the cross of Christ because they are the cross breed of angels (watchers) who were entrusted by God to help humans in their quest for Him. But fell...they left their first estate (post, position) because of their sexual lust for human women. Those original fallen angels are bound till The Final Judgement, but their offspring roam the earth in spirit form seeking places to dwell. If they cannot find a human to possess, they can "haunt" anything including old houses. BUT...if you have accepted Jesus as Savior, you are empowered by the Holy Spirit to command these beings to leave by the power of the blood of Jesus, and they cannot refuse. So...if you’re ever abducted by aliens or encounter evil you can feel, cry out to God and plead the blood. They’ll run like the little ants they are!!! My family lived in the house just to the north (708) of this corner house (702) from 1956 to 1962. I was in that corner house many, many times during those years. The kids who then lived in 702 used to call a room in their basement the dungeon (probably where coal was stored early in the 20th century). I don't remember any stories of eerie occurrences, but I do remember a little chirping sound that seemed to come from inside the wall near where the stairway reached the first floor. I thought it was just a gas pipe squeaking. 702 had a fireplace, which 708 did not, and I was kind of jealous about that. (Santa Claus, you know.) But 702 had only one bathroom, upstairs, while 708 had three: full bath in the basement, half-bath on the main floor, and full bath upstairs.

I used to hang out with one of the girls who had lived there.. every time I would walk into the porch I always got a werid feeling it always felt so dark throughout the whole house.. the kitchen seemed too small & croweded. I grew up accross the street until I was 8. My dad kept it as a rental and I lived there again for 5 years in my early 20s. I believe it all. My house had a nice little boy in it that actually appeared and played games but was mean to my roommate. I have been in neighbors house basement, and something happened there years ago. The walls are all grafitied and it sends chills down your back and it is not positive. I believe it, from years of looking across the street, you always wondered, what is going on in that house. Not even squatters stay there!

My aunts stayed in 702 n my mom stayed next door. And they had the house til I think 98-99 and had moved in there 94-95 and I remember that basement was kinda creepy but as far as seeing things I never saw anything n either house we had fun in that house while in it. It did have something that scratched in the wall walk in into the kitchen but we just figured it was a possum and but may be they liked us cause they always partied!

First, I would like to say I had no clue that someone from BVB lived in ft dodge. ( I was born and raised in ft dodge) That's awesome! Rock on! Second, that house is on the same same street where the Starks family lived (just a houses down) and the mother killed two of her VERY young children while her oldest two were at the playground across the street at the school. Just driving on that road gives me the creeps. The house is very freaky. I used to live a few blocks away from it and just walking by I would get goosebumps. I have no doubt that Jinxx is telling the truth.

The reason you don't know Jinxx is because he and his family moved to Des Moines after this. I went to high school with him there and he's telling the truth as he experienced it. I remember hearing about this house several times back then. Seriously, why the hell would someone pick Dirty Dodge, out of all of the crappy towns in Iowa, to randomly make up a haunted house story? Use a little critical thinking before you run your mouth. I also very much doubt he was actually born in 86, since I graduated in 97 and he was only a year or two behind me, but it's on Wikipedia, so it must be right? They're so well known for their credibility. Ha! Even so, my own child vividly remembers a very similar situation of a dark figure standing over him in his bedroom when he was only 2 years old as well. I also remember visiting my mom in the hospital when my brother was born when I was 2. It's absolutely possible for a 2 year old to remember traumatic or exciting memories, but that's beside the point.

The house was just sold again. I live near (a block away from) it. I have seen things in the window me and my friends used to sit on the porch or walk passed. We got touched sometimes and there were dark things there. The whole neighborhood has an eerie feel to it. The house is definitely haunted. First of all, despite some of the posts I have skimmed through, I am more than happy that someone from the Fort Dodge area has been so successful. As far as the haunted house is concerned...I have no idea. If any of the things mentioned were to have happened to me I would have have abandoned that place as quickly as I could. Who is to say unless you experienced it yourself. I am happy I have not.

I lived across the street from this house for over 7 yrs in that time I had experienced many odd things by which I did call the police to come check on. Example: I got a whif of something horrible drifting from that house I had to close the windows it was way too fowl. So I had the police come over they too couldn't figure it out. Also it was rented out a few times but the renters never stayed very long ever. From time to time we would experience unexplainable things like knocking on the side door (which still occurs) or things moved or lamps coming on all by themselves. Maybe its all part of the same scary thing. It's a shame since its across the street from the school and its a big house with a nice yard. From what I have seen and felt I strongly agree that there is something unnatural going on. That's too bad.

First I would like to say that I do believe in ghosts and such.I live right next door... I am very aware of strange things happening around me, I have had my fair share of unexplainable events. . First of all there were families living in both houses, the one on the corner and the other one that looks exactly like it next door, until about seven years ago. The people that own the properties I also know and they are very old and stopped renting them out. Once everyone figured this out kids and adults alike have been in and vandalized and destroyed these homes to the point of looking like haunted houses. Animals have been in them and left lovely messes as well. Also this house mentioned has a large porch that had a litter of kittens under it. Animals are pretty good sensors of odd phenomena, but seemed to be ok with the house, strange. Now I am not saying that I don't get odd feelings when I look at these houses sometimes or that the people that lived at these houses didn't experience something. I am saying that there is a lot more to it than that. They need to be torn down because of the hazard to the community, a fire can happen anytime with all the kids and people going in and out. This is not good since some of these houses are so close together more than one will start on fire and someone will get hurt. So one thing I would love is for people to realize that for one it is illegal to enter these homes and for another it can be dangerous for all. I keep telling the neighborhood kids that they need to stay away because of all the broken glass, someone is gonna get hurt and then they will be more than just "haunted." If teenagers can have a rendezvous in this house without anything strange or ghostly happening, and yes this really happened it is in a police log, then I think these houses are just old and creepy and imaginations can run wild. But again, for I am sure people will tell me I am full of crap or whatever, I am not saying the people that lived there didn't have ghostly experiences, I just don't think that this house or the other one are worth anybody's time. Remember they haven't been rented out because the owners are very old and have several properties and once they were starting to get vandalized they couldn't. I think what u posted was down right crappy. Where you there? Did you live in the house? You know 100% its all not true? Just because one person experienced these things doesn't make it not true. I believe something must have happened to their family that changed their minds about staying there.
I grew up in a house that haf many unexplained things going on and it freaked our family so we sold our house amd my parents moved them and 7 kids. We found that our house had veen moved from a place that was conected to a church where they held all the funerals. The next ppl moved in and have stayed there since amd its been 20 years. They hear things but nothing like w e did.
So next time you want to talk nasty crap about someone and what they have been through maybe think 2x.
Oh anf FYI I think I sence jeolousy u camt be in a band big or small :)

I checked the house at last night. For some reason to me the house didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all. To be honest I loved it. I thought it was beautiful even in it all broken down state. My few friends were scared to deatb of it. Maybe I'm just more open minded about it. So I have purchased a few things and we have planned to stay the night there. We would LOVE to have you come with us. Then u can maybe face even more fears. I added u on Twitter to talk with u about it.

What happened to me and my family here December of 1987 to February of 1988 is as real as I, or my mother and brother can remember it. I have been spending my life since trying to make sense of it.

When did your family live there? The Asian landlords coincide with the fact that Asians bought the property from Egemo Realty after my family my family desperately sold it to them in 1988. Also, we found dead black birds between the storm windows of my bedroom, I will never forget. Also, sorry about the sepia tone from the original 1986 polaroid my mother took, which I still have in my possession, idiot.

My mom nailed that door in the basement shut. I remember there was this creepy toilet in that room that was always full of black shit that my grandpa took a hammer and broke it down and we were always creeped out by that area of the house. It apparently was an old coal room.

Lived in FD for years . Not sure about the exact address but I recognize the house and I have always said it was haunted, but people thought I was nuts! This address does indeed exist!! I live 4 blocks away from it and it is creepy. My cousins and I always try to spend the night in the house on Halloween. Last year we were unable to because of family problems but this year its gonna happen for sure!! (:

My mom grew up in this house, and I visited once during an open house when it was for sale. It isn't haunted. Aside from the attractions people attend around Halloween time, there are no such thing as haunted houses.

I lived there from 1958 until 1979. There was definitely a creepy vibe. I experienced moments of extreme fright for no apparent reason sometimes, and smelled a weird odor that scared me.

I lived in this house from 2002 to 2008ish and absolutely nothing weird happened. Also, the white house next door was occupied. The landlord does not take care of the property that's why there was no one living there.

That sounds really scary. I have had experiences with the paranormal in my childhood home before, but nothing to that extent. It was mostly disembodied voices, the occasional object moving, and scratching noises in the back of my closet.Because of the scratching noises I rarely slept in my room because I would hear it in the middle of the night.

We lived here for a year from 1999 to 2000 and while the basement was extreamily creepy because it had a door that was nailed shut we never had any of these experiences your family had. Also when we first moved in we repainted a lot of the rooms. So some of the thing did get changed.
