Casa Monica Hotel, St. Augustine FL

I was a housekeeper at Casa Monica for almost a year. I was born and raised in St. Augustine so I know a lot bout local haunts:) Casa will not tell you they are haunted. Being a housekeeper though, you see and hear many strange things. The fourth floor is where the most "activity" is located. Children can be heard running up and down it from the floor below even when there are none on the floor. I experienced this a few times. Some of the suites will not be cleaned by just one person. Many housekeepers refuse to clean certain ones. 511 for example, a man hung himself upstairs. The top floor of the suite is a bathroom and there was another stairwell, but it has since been boarded up and painted over. The room just below it, 411 a guest woke up with many people standing in his room. The Ponce de Leon suite is the one that scared me the most. I would be on the second floor of it when music would come from the first floor. I went downstairs and the radio would be on after I was sure it was off. A woman in white is said to be haunting it. She was photographed and is in a picture that is in each room. She has a parasol and is standing in front of Lightner Museum which is just west of Casa. Last but not least, there is the Flagler Suite. I have seen pictures of a childs hand print that will appear on the first floor bathroom mirror as well as there being an account from a previous housekeeper. She knocked on the door to clean up and she heard a voice say "We've been expecting you". She opened the door expecting there to be a family inside but no one was in the room.

Definitely Haunted NEW

I just stayed in 307…holy crap. Like another comment mentioned here, I started my night off by feeling strange about being there…like something was off. Then the ceiling fan pulls started swinging like pendulums on a clock and the fan was making a ticking noise after I shut the lights off and went to bed. I had worked in housekeeping up at hotels in Massachusetts where I grew up that were haunted. It hit me, this place was built in 1888…and these weird things are happening. I was on the phone with my girlfriend who heard the ticking over the phone and asked "What is that ticking noise?" I was like "Oh its just the ceiling fan pull swinging, probably just from the fan being on." Me, my brother-in-law, and my sister also were ALL woken up at random different hours of the night by what sounded like children running down the hallway on the floor above us wearing leather-soled dress shoes.

Definitely Haunted!

My husband and I stayed in the Ponce De Leon suite and the music came on by itself on the second floor while we were on the first floor. It was around 3 am. Very strange. Stayed there again and I was abruptly woken up in the middle of the night like someone was aggressively puling my arm.

Haunted? NEW
by: Denise Denson

Me and my husband stayed here this past Saturday for one night and stayed on the 3rd floor, room 313. I couldn't sleep because I felt like I was being watched all night, I also heard what sounded like little kids running and playing up and down the halls, from up above me. What really creeped me out was hearing a woman's long, distant and horrible scream that I couldn't tell where it was coming from.i had asked that night if the place was haunted and a staff member shook his head no. After staying the night there, I looked the hotel up and discovered that others had heard the same things that I had heard from above on the 4th floor. Kind of creepy. Will I stay again? Definitely!
